Environmentalism India-UK: A View Through Creative Practice

Short Commissions Call Out: India-UK.

For India and UK creative practitioners to look at Urban Landscape, Geography and Architecture together.

Indy Hunjan and Professor Rajinder Dudrah (Birmingham City University) invite emerging creative practitioners from the UK and India to jointly explore their environment and that of their community through the production of creative outputs.

This is a bespoke online research-focused project spanning just two months, Sep-Oct 2023, with its Launch in early 2024 online.

These small commissions will work with three of our young and emerging artists from India; Somveer Kamalnath and Km Neha from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Samir Ansari from Dhanbad, Jharkand.

Kala Phool and Rajinder Dudrah worked with these practitioners as part of their ‘India-UK Creative Industries at 75’ project funded by the AHRC and Innovate UK. Further details of this project can be found at here >

Somveer’s and Samir’s respective sketches and paintings can be viewed here >

Our new ‘Environmentalism India-UK’ project seeks to partner Somveer, Neha and Samir with 2 practitioners from the UK to collaborate and explore issues of the environment through each other’s creative practice and to produce new short creative outputs together.

The global pandemic has shown us all a different way to co-create through online platforms and video calls and continuing this way to enable international collaboration, you are invited to apply.

The closing date for submissions is 1200 on Mon 3 July 2023.
