Supporting Global Majority Leaders in the Cultural Sector
The Brilliant Routes Network is a supportive space for Global Majority cultural leaders addressing issues of progression and retention in the cultural sector.
Brilliant Routes forms a key part of Clore Leadership’s Inclusive Leadership delivery for Arts Council England’s Transforming Leadership programme, which prioritises activities to address existing gaps in diversity in the leadership of culture.
For the past three years Studio Gaylene Gould, a company founded by Clore Fellow Gaylene Gould, has curated a programme to support this group’s professional development. In 2022 they piloted Re-UP! a special programme designed to address issues of burnout supported by Gaylene Gould’s research for Clore Leadership Re-UP! Restorative Care Practice as Leadership Development.
The next Re-UP! will run between January to May 2024.
Restorative Care Practice
Restorative Care Practice (RCP) is Gaylene’s proposition for a series of tools and approaches that help cultural leaders consciously centre reparative, reflective and rehabilitative practices before, during and after intense times of stress in order to reduce the effects and create space for new meanings to emerge. Such practices include the regular use of personal reflective tools, creative play, meditation and rest, physical activities and the active creation of supportive kinship networks.
RCP is designed to provide the leader with a greater sense of perspective and compassion, supporting the development of a growth mindset, helping to better manage the nervous system and creating a sense of safety and connection.
Re-Up?
Re-UP! is a transformative programme designed to empower Global Majority leaders to explore Restorative Leadership, fostering practices of support, care, and communal growth. Through workshops, “Reasoning” talks, Kinship Circles, and embodied and creative activities, Re-UP! provides cultural professionals with an opportunity to replenish their energy while deepening their capacity to sustain a healthy professional life.
